ABOUT US
MISSION
At Fortcem, we are a multi-national team of professionals who have united with a collective mission to provide the world with sustainable cement technologies and cost-effective solutions.
Our team has dedicated years of time and resources to create a new and patented technology called sCMT (sustainable Cementitious Materials Technology). Fortcem Laboratories, a globally recognised R&D Company, assists clients with the development of innovative solutions to complex construction problems.
Our chemists and our network of industrial partners, have the experience, resources, and technical skills to perform comprehensive research, lab-developed assays, and extensive onsite testing for a broad spectrum of civil projects. Fortcem continues to demonstrate a firm commitment to existing and future R&D opportunities by providing a robust international framework of personnel and resources for the cement industry.
TECHNOLOGY
Our package of proprietary chemical formulations, when combined with fly ash, may represent a viable substitute for Portland cement.
This formula produces high performance, cost-effective, and sustainable cementitious material. It offers flexible and adaptable application with greater pour temperature ranges (0 to 50+ degrees Celsius) and enhanced control over setting times.
Our product formulas also facilitate underwater setting/curing without the need for expensive and often toxic admixtures.
Our package of formulas has been tested by Nelson Testing Laboratories, an independent commercial testing facility in Illinois, USA, and during testing, our latest sCMT formulation exceeded the minimum performance requirements of current international standards for cementitious materials. The product incorporates a variable mix of three components: 90% fly ash, water, and Fortcem sCMT.
IMPACT
Portland Cement has set the standard for concrete construction in the last century, yet processing requirements make it a large contributor (nearly 8%) to the creation of greenhouse gases along with several other undesirable qualities.
In contrast, our product relies on a high percentage of fly ash, an industrial waste byproduct of coal-fueled power plants, and when combined with sCMT, creates a nearly carbon neutral cement alternative.
Another notable difference is that Fortcem sCMT is an all-purpose form of cement that meets EN197 specifications for a 52.5 cement, except for composition. Additionally, sCMT meets ASTM type I, II, III, IV, and V specifications. Fortcem sCMT incorporates a 3-part system of powder, binders, and liquid chemicals.
Modification of the chemical ratios, while keeping the total mixture constant, allows performance characteristics to be modified accommodating almost any temperature and rapid set times, while maintaining an inherent immunity to alkali silica reaction. In all instances, the total cement or binder content remains constant.
OUR PRODUCTS
Fortcem sCMT produces special mixtures with compressive strengths ranging from as little as 258 Kg/M3 to 558 Kg/M3 can be achieved with simple adjustments to the formula ratios.
Test data for Fortcem sCMT specialty mix designs supports that they are compliant with the ASTM 211.1-4, Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for Normal, Heavyweight, and Mass Concrete.
This test data, unlike Portland, represents air-cured samples (23±°C and ambient (~50%) RH).
The target requirements of the mixtures are 100 mm slump and a set time of approximately 4 hours.
Fortcem sCMT stands tall in a class of its own as a uniquely sustainable product. To date there are no other commercial cement products that can claim a zero-carbon footprint apart from sCMT production which reduces the need for cementitious materials and repurposes harmful waste components from other industries. Each cubic meter of sCMT offsets about one tonne of CO2 from the manufacture and use of Portland cement, meaning that greenhouse gas emissions may be reduced by up to 140%!
